SACRED MEDICINES | FAQs
Rapéh Ceremony
Rapéh (Rapé, Hapeh or Hapé) is a sacred blend crafted through ceremonial pounding of Tobac# (N. rustica) mixed with tree ashes. It undergoes a filtration process through a fine mesh, resulting in an ultra-fine dust, as fine as 125 microns. Chants and prayers play a crucial role during its preparation, awakening the consciousness of the jungle within this intricate blend of plants. While Nicotina Rustica forms the foundation of this mixture, the inclusion of various other plants enhances the therapeutic qualities of this sacred medicine.

For those new to Rapéh, it’s advisable to start with an amount roughly the size of a pea (50% for each nostril). After extended use of the same Rapéh, you can gradually increase the quantity.
The frequency of use may vary: lower quantities may lead to more frequent use, while higher quantities may need less frequent application. Some individuals may not experience the desired effects with smaller amounts, so it’s essential to cultivate your own awareness and relationship with the medicine to determine what works best for you. Take time to reflect and inquire about your well-being as you navigate this journey.
Mapacho, the foundational shamanic medicine, acts as a conduit for connection with the spirit and the universe, fostering the awakening of our inherent purity. It also serves as a guardian, directing intentions toward specific purposes and providing protection. When used with mindfulness and purpose, tobacco not only holds spiritual significance but also imparts a shield of protection and offers various health benefits.
There are no strict rules defining an excessive quantity; shamans may apply it multiple times in a day, up to nine times, depending on the individual’s healing path. In certain tribes, it’s a daily practice before breakfast and bedtime. The key lies in mindfulness, in connecting with your heart to discern the amount of medicine your body requires. Without opening our hearts and incorporating the teachings into our daily lives, the medicine merely passes through us.
The journey begins with an initial discomfort, but as you push through it and establish a connection with your intention and the spirit of the medicine, you’ll find yourself engaging in your inner work and accessing the realm of expansion. It’s important to note that there are various methods of application, and your experience will be unique, influenced by your state in your healing journey.
Tobacco contains nicotine, which activates the reward system, creating a desire to revisit the experience. This dual nature makes it a two-spirit teacher plant. It can reveal both the positive and negative aspects when we lose sight of our connection’s purpose. This medicine serves as a tool and ally; its integration into our practice is a matter of our free will and conscious choices.
Absolutely. This medicine is closely aligned with the element of air, which can reawaken ancestral memories since every cell and strand of DNA relies on air for functioning. Additionally, it possesses grounding qualities as an earth medicine, enabling you to perceive the world from a place of inner stillness. Feel free to incorporate this practice before or after your meditation session, following your inner guidance and the path you wish to explore.
Rapéh can be administered (blown into your nose) by another person or self-administered to purify and establish a connection with the spirit. It can support your exploration of non-ordinary states or enhance your regular meditation practice.
No, it is not. While you may experience visions, these are messages from the spirit of the plant rather than a psychedelic journey.
Keep it in a cool dry/dark place, preferably an altar/sacred space.
Kambó Ceremony
It is the secretion from the tree frog Phyllomedusa Bicolor. Often referred to as the “vaccin# of the jungle,” it stands as one of the most potent and natural sources of antiviral, antibiotic, antimicrobial, analgesic, and anti-inflammatory compounds. Utilizing it can enhance your immune system and support holistic healing of the body, mind, and soul.
Kambó has bioactive peptides. Each peptide have different functions. Kambó works in the opiod system, lymphatic system, smooth muscles, production of collagen, angiogenesis, homeostasis and much more.
A Kambo session can include some physical discomfort, such as nausea, vomiting, and sweating. These are considered part of the purification process and the peptides doing their job to improve the quality of life. Many people report feeling more energized and clearer mentally after the session.
However, some people experience bliss and connection to the frog’s spirit. Our suggestion is to approach your ceremony with begginers mind.
Every tribe holds its unique narrative regarding the discovery of this medicine.
One story says that a shaman sought wisdom from God/Source to find a remedy for the village. He received divine guidance to summon the frog and instructions on how to extract its secretion and apply it. Since then, it has been harnessed to fortify the immune system, aid in hunting, and purify the body on emotional, energetic, and physical levels.
The Matses took this tradition from another tribe that’s now non existing. Kambó is used by the Matsés in Ibama prior to hunting to improve stamina and sharpen the senses.

Peptides consist of short chains of amino acids joined by peptide bonds, making them smaller counterparts to proteins.
Emerging research suggests that certain types of peptides may play a constructive role in retarding the aging process, mitigating inflammation, and combating microbes.
Peptides function as signaling molecules or tiny chemical messengers employed by neurons to convey instructions to the body’s cells, directing them on how to respond.
Typically, the medicine remains on your skin for approximately 15 minutes, though it may linger longer as needed. The duration of each ceremony varies, contingent on your intentions, your current level of experience, and the depth you aim to reach. Occasionally, the medicine is flipped to prolong the journey.
Private ceremonies generally span about 2 to 3 hours.
These ceremonies serve as a potent means to honor your own journey, opening yourself to the transformative power and enchantment of the Frog.
Kambo is legal everywhere except Australia.
When kambó is placed on the skin, you may feel like a slight burning or stinging sensation, once kambó enters the lymphatic system is when the magic begins.
Kambó scans the body for toxins to be released and while the peptides are active, there are various feelings that you may feel throughout your process:
Hot & sweats
Lightheaded or weak
Nauseous
Exhausted
Sad
Angry
& more!
This can feel uncomfortable, but you must feel it to heal it.
Remember your intention, and choose to work with the medicine rather than resist it and you will have a much more pleasant journey.
Purging can take on various forms, and vomiting doesn’t always occur. Nevertheless, whether vomit occurs or not, Kambó will continue to fulfill its purpose. The benefits are primarily associated with the chemical processes within the body (the infusion of peptides & homeostasis), emphasizing overall well-being rather than solely physical detoxification.
“Purging” signifies purification and cleansing, precisely what Kambó initiates upon entering your lymphatic system.
During a Kambó session, the release of toxins can manifest in various ways, including vomiting, defecation, sweating, urination, crying, nasal congestion, cramping, and more. Emotional and spiritual purges may also occur, such as shaking, laughing, or fainting.
The frog face represents a profound purge, as it signifies the medicine’s penetration into the toxins stored in your fatty tissues. The objective is to restore your body to a state of balance, enabling it to function optimally and serve as the vessel for the spirit in the 3D realm.
Kambó enables us to release all that no longer serves us, explaining the variability in the purge process for each individual who undergoes a Kambó session.Purging is “purification or cleansing” and that is exactly what Kambó begins the process of when entering through your lymphatic system.
The guidance of the frog will determine the optimal placement of points based on your intentions. I encourage you to ask Kambocito where to place the gates. Additionally, I will work with meridians and chakra points to enhance the flow of energy through any blocked channels. For instance, if your goal is to release fears related to love and open your heart, Kambó may be applied to the heart chakra points.
When the medicine is applied to the “gateways,” you might experience sensations like stinging, warmth, or sensitivity. The “gateways” refer to the superficial burn areas where the medicine is administered, and this can be tender for some individuals. Naturally, different parts of the body may exhibit varying levels of sensitivity during this process. Once Kambó enters the body, it encourages us to confront and sit with our discomforts as a means to release them. In this transformative journey, the principle is to feel it in order to heal it.
It is administered through small, superficial burns on the skin’s surface. The Kambo secretion is then applied to the open wound. It’s a quick process and usually well-tolerated.
Following the removal of the medicine, individuals typically engage in a peaceful meditation lasting for about 20-40 minutes.
Kambó, often regarded as a warrior medicine, tends to provide a sense of empowerment after their experience.
The after-effects of Kambó can vary depending on your health and the number of treatments you’ve had. Many individuals report increased energy, elevated mood, reduced stress, enhanced pain management, improved stamina, better cognitive function, and a sense of continuous blessings. However, it’s important to note that not everyone may feel amazing right away. Feeling sluggish after the initial treatments is relatively common and can be attributed to the Herxheimer effect or “Die-off” symptoms. Kambó possesses potent antimicrobial properties and acts as a powerful antibiotic within the body. As harmful organisms perish, they release toxins that the body needs to filter and detoxify. This process can lead to sensations of fatigue, aches and pains, insomnia, and intestinal irritation. While not very common, this reaction typically lasts between 1-7 days, depending on the individual. It signifies that Kambó is effectively expelling toxins from the body.
I recommend taking it easy on the day of Kambó, as this is your personal time for self-reflection and expansion. The profound release experienced during the ceremony can leave you feeling light and clear, but it’s vital to allow yourself the space to integrate and recalibrate your energy.
After the recovery period, many individuals find themselves able to drive. However, if you have any uncertainty or feel unsure, I recommend either arranging for a ride or considering the use of a service like Uber for your transportation.
To ensure the safety and well-being of the frog, a process is followed. The frog’s legs are gently tied with a stick, and the secretions collected are carefully applied to bamboo sticks, where they are left to dry. Once this process is completed, the frog is released back into its natural habitat and won’t be harvested again for a minimum of three months. This approach ensures that the frog retains enough of its own Kambó secretion to protect itself.
Feel free to reach out to us, and we will provide you with a comprehensive tutorial on how to prepare for the ceremony.
Kambo is believed to have various potential benefits, including detoxification, emotional release, and increased physical, mental resilience and the expansion of consciousness. It is also used to address conditions like chronic pain, anxiety, depression, PTSD. It is an elixir of peptides, which can help assist with the journey of people living with multiple health conditions such as cancer, skin issues, liver toxicity, insomnia, fatigue, Parkinson’s disease, etc.
The number of sessions recommended varies from person to person and depends on individual goals. Some people find one session sufficient, while others choose to participate in a series of sessions. The caboclo tradition suggests 3 sessions in a period of a moon cycle.
Kambó is not recommended for pregnant individuals. A comprehensive screening process helps determine if Kambo is suitable for each person.
Nasal Kambó Ceremony
- The nasal mucosa allows for fast absorption of the bioactive peptides in Kambó
- If you wish to avoid the scars from the burns
- Explore almost lost traditional methods
- Unlike the well-known method of applying Kambo through small burns on the skin, this approach delivers the medicine directly through the nasal passage, bypassing the lymphatic system and potentially inducing a faster and more intense purge. The effects can vary based on dosage, individual sensitivity, and openness to the experience.
- Same benefits as regular Kambó times 10! More energy and grounded feeling the following days
This method was said to induce a very intense and immediate detoxification, possibly even stronger than burning application. Though, come with a beginner’s mind, some people have asked to be served twice in the same ceremony because they want to go deeper. Dosage and level of openness influence the experience.
The nasal application is usually strong and may not be suitable for beginners. However, a screening will determine your level of readiness.
In the traditional practice, participants rest for the entire day. It is essential to have a sitter who will attend to your needs.
